Victims of Christchurch mosques mass murders remembered by West Australian community

Message to be read during the congregational Friday Prayer Sermon on Friday 13 March 2020 at WA Mosques state wide by the Imams

This Sunday 15th March, marks the one-year anniversary of the tragic shooting incidents at Mosques in Christchurch, New Zealand.

This was a shocking attack in a city that was not considered to be of high risk. The impact on the Christchurch Muslim community, the local residents, and the wider Muslim community was, and still is significant.

On the day that marks the first anniversary of this awful event WA Police would like to reassure the Muslim community that there will be extra patrols and other security measures implemented. Officers in uniform will be visiting Mosques and schools during the week and will continue to work with WA Muslim community leadership to build on our strong and lasting relationship.
WA Police also advises the Muslim community to remain calm, vigilant and report any incidents or suspected criminal activity.

The number to call is: 131444 or if the matter is urgent call 000.
